“Breaking down the walls between individual reflection and social confrontation is my goal as an emerging artist in the 21st century. I challenge myself to create imposing pieces that explore the vices of the human experience while tackling complex topics within the mundane. I like my work to be alternative and often incorporate macabre themes and ambiguous metaphors to facilitate that. My creative processes consist mostly of an oil or acrylic ‘base’ that have incorporated a variety of discarded or found objects including newspaper clippings, wrappers, writing utensils, money, animal pelts, construction materials, and destructive processes such as burning and ripping.
Utilizing these unorthodox methods of artistic application, I balance cost-effectiveness and inspiration by looking beyond the constraints of what is accepted in contemporary circles. My artistic approach subtly echoes the drama and technique of old baroque masters while invoking the free-forming thought processes of modernists such as Edward Hopper or Banksy. My aspiration is for my work to bring thought to the way the world operates and encourage satirical awareness of prevalent issues in the culture and politics of human existence, whether the viewer is pondering a group of out-of-focus monkeys or a vandalized dollar bill against an explosion of colors.”
